About CarRuler

CarRuler answers the two questions spec sheets make hard: will it fit (next to the car you have, in your garage, in a parking space) and what will it cost to drive where you live.

What you can do here

• Compare sizes: two cars to scale, with length, height and the difference.
• Check garage fit: length, door room, the door opening and height, for your own garage.
• Cost to drive: yearly fuel or charging cost for gas, hybrid, plug-in and electric cars in every state.
• Browse dimensions by make and body type, and rankings such as the most fuel-efficient SUVs.

Where the numbers come from

Dimensions come from manufacturer specifications (via a licensed vehicle database) and are cross-checked against US government crash-test measurements. Fuel economy and EV range come from the EPA, fuel and electricity prices from the US Energy Information Administration. The methodology page explains every source and calculation.

Independent

CarRuler is independent: we don't sell cars and no manufacturer or dealer pays for placement. The site is free and supported by ads, which never affect the numbers or rankings.
